Recording treatment events.

Every treatment for every cow administered in the dairy should be recorded on MISTRO Shed. Treatments are recording using the function keys, but these need to be set up as described in the installation section. Basically you map a treatment event to a function key. You can set up a function key to record a drug treatment or a health event like lameness. The following program has been set up with drug treatments on F5-F8, with a health event code of LDA mapped to Ctrl-F8.

To record a treatment, you simply press the required function key, and the following screen will appear. We will use the example of an Ampiclox LC treatment (F6).
Recording treatment
The top of the screen identifies which treatment you are recording. You then type in the cow number (remember that F12 will open up the list of cows if you need it) and press Enter. You then type in the operator’s name (or you can press F12 and select from a list), nominate which quarter was treated, and confirm the date and time. The date and time will be set to the current date and time, so you should not need to change these.

When you have entered all the information, pressing enter one last time will result in a confirmation message asking whether you are happy to record the event. Answer with a “Yes” and the job is done. The milkers at the next milking will be able to view the treatments given to this cow, and the new event will be listed.
